Big Surprise!

Wow life is so unexpected and  we're sure grateful for it!  The news is out and we can't wrap our minds around it still. We're expecting a girl in June! Surprise! (Especially to us).

A little confused? So were we.
We ended up finding out just last week. And the craziest thing is I was already 22 weeks along...growing a little baby girl inside of me. You know that TLC show, "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant?" I use to make fun of that show but now I think I may need to call in soon.

It's all been a crazy and wonderful ride and we feel so completely blessed. All along I was blaming a lot of my symptoms on poor Emmett (being really tired, my back and hips hurting from holding him, etc). But in fact I had another excuse.

Here's the shortened story:
Since Nate and I have dealt with infertility our whole marriage and we were told we had a less then 10% chance of ever having children on our own, that was the last thing from our minds. It was very hard to accept but we felt in our hearts that adoption was the way to go and we were so blessed to get little Emmett in our lives. We can't even express what a blessing he is!

Soon after Emmett was born I started to notice some weird things going on with my body. I took about 5-6 pregnancy tests within a 4 month time span and they all turned up negative. So pregnancy was the last thing to cross my mind. In December I got the stomach flu really bad for a few days and ever since then had a really hard time eating food and I have had a horrible gag reflex. Then I started to get so tired all the time and my back was aching so bad. I was also getting a lot of stomach pain and I couldn't work out like I use to without getting light headed and nauseous  I looked up my symptoms online (because the Internet doesn't lie) and I was pretty sure I had cysts on my ovaries. I called to make a doctor's appointment the beginning of January and wasn't scheduled for an appointment until the middle of February  Well between that short amount of time my symptoms were getting out of control and a few weeks before my appointment I notice that I had a small and hard mass in my stomach. Nate immediately called the hospital and I got an appointment the next day. And to our wonderful surprise we found out we were expecting!!! We couldn't believe it and we both just cried from complete joy.

The doctor had me scheduled for an ultrasound the next day. Nate and I were still in complete shock and couldn't believe it. We felt for sure that I couldn't be that far along because of all the negative pregnancy tests. Boy were we wrong! When we found out I was already 22 weeks and that we were expecting a girl our jaws just dropped to the ground and we started to laugh. It's been such a fun couple of weeks and we still can't grasp it all.

We feel so so blessed! We also know Emmett was suppose to be a part of our family and the timing couldn't have gone any differently. We are grateful knowing we aren't in charge of our lives because we could have never imagined life any better. And who would have thought at this time last year we would be increasing our family by 2!

Emmett is going to be the best big brother and I sure hope he will be close to his little sister. (They are going to be in the same grade so they better get along) It's so very exciting (and a bit stressful) but we couldn't be happier!!!!

I am so excited for you guys! The kids in the same grade? That's so awesomely crazy!!! I'm glad you're not dying but that you had a good reason for feeling like junk. (I do want to just go ahead and take credit and say "I told you so" after our conversation at my house last month...) Once again I'll remind you that Beth is a great girl's name!!
